Do you think he means "Adventure" or "The Stacks," which was previously available on the Ernest Cline website?

Never mind. Definitely The Stacks. Check out this passage from the official rules:
"4. How to enter and play... 'First Challenge', Stacks Atari 2600 Game: The first challenge is an 2600 game called " Stacks." The Stacks game is free to play online and the ROM file can be downloaded for a free and loaded onto an Atari 2600 game console. The Stacks consists of several puzzles that a player must solve in order to win the game. The Stacks also contains a hidden quick response code that a Player must find to complete the challenge. The Player must scan the quick response and take the quick response code to the "second key," which is a hidden website that leads to the Second Challenge. The website for the Second Challenge does not open until July 1, 2012. On July 1, 2012, the gate to the Second Challenge will open and the Player will be directed to the Second Challenge. Players must verify that they reached the Secret Room on their own and without the assistance of another Player or any other individual. In order to verify that the Player reach the Secret Room on their own, the Player must submit a digital photo of themselves with the Secret Room displayed on their TV/monitor to [e-mail]"

Man, that's fun. I wonder if it's based off of Wade's experience IRL, or vice versa? Or is there a correlation at all?

That game is very fun, but for me, gets rather difficult very quickly. I'm curious if this version of the game has the hidden QR code for the second gate in it (I haven't yet found the URL to the first gate yet).

I'm not sure either, I haven't had much time to devote to searching what with working full time, etc... I anticipate that playing the actual games will be my biggest downfall, I am not much of a PC gamer. QR code or no, it can't hurt to log a little practice time, right?

I'm afraid I won't be very successful with the games either, but we shall see!

Once you find the first gate, the game surely does have the QR code in it b/c when I play, I collect certain items that begin to build it below the score board. I've gotten a few of the pieces, but always lose before finishing it as the game seems to speed up the further you progress! Shocked

I am totally addicted to the game now though... it's like a vendetta! Wink

Addicted here too. This has to be one of the coolest combinations of gaming and literature ever.

Agreed. Excellent game and excellent book. Well, except for the crappy ending where they bad guys won. :-(
